PROFILE

Based in Warwick and having spent several years teaching at a local dog-training club, Julie Russell KCAI(CD), CDBdist realised that there was a need for one to one obedience and behavioural sessions. Many dogs and handlers do not thrive in a multi student class and cannot be given the level of attention they deserve. Because of this she started MANAGING MUTTS in 1999 to help those who, for whatever reason, could not cope with the chaotic life that is most dog clubs.

She became a Founder Member of The Kennel Club Scheme for Instructors in Dog Training and Canine Behaviour in 2001 and was one of the first ten people in the country to achieve the KCAI qualification, which she received in 2005. She is now mentoring the KCAI Scheme in the Midlands Region for The Kennel Club. She regularly appears at Crufts to promote the scheme at the invitation of The Kennel Club.

She had the honour of helping Peter Lewis (who is surely the guiding light in canine behaviour modification) to trial his Diploma in Changing Dog Behaviour in 2007 and became the first person in the country to achieve the CDB Dist.

Julie is now offering courses aimed at trainers who wish to become KCAI (see separate page)
